The Mele Commuity kindergarten was constructed by Save The Children Vanuatu in 2013 but was never completed resulting in deterioration after Cyclone Pam – specifically the unsealed ends of the building. SHaRM Foundation was approached to assist with the construction of a toilet block which would be used solely by the kindy pikininis. Volunteers, Rory and Siviu Chilia, from the community co-ordinated the work while John, Jobe and Daniel worked with foreman Alick. A two toilet complex including a septic tank, proper drainage and hand wash basins were installed with the pikininis being trained through the Wash program delivered by Live and Learn.
